Texas-licensed mold remediation in Round Rock

We remove mold in homes across the city, from Downtown Round Rock and Round Rock West to Teravista, Paloma Lake and Walsh Ranch, and in nearby Georgetown and Pflugerville.

At that visit we read moisture around the growth, measure the affected area and leave a written line-item estimate. The size of the area decides which Texas rules apply, laid out below.

What causes mold in Round Rock homes

Three kinds of Round Rock water show up in our mold calls.

Roofs first. On March 21, 2022 an EF-2 tornado touched down just southwest of I-35 and SH 45 and tracked through Windy Terrace, Greenlawn Place and South Creek, and the city later counted more than 680 damaged homes. On April 22, 2025 the National Weather Service logged hail the size of tennis balls in Teravista and 1-inch stones at Paloma Lake Blvd and Diego Dr. Rain through a damaged roof soaks attic insulation and the back of the ceiling drywall, and it can stay damp where nobody looks.

Then pipes inside walls. Round Rock’s water utility never issued a boil-water notice during the February 2021 freeze, and on Feb. 16 the city told customers a dry faucet most likely meant frozen pipes. The damage sat inside houses, in lines that split in exterior walls and attics and were patched after the thaw.

Then creeks. Ninety-eight percent of the city drains to Brushy Creek. Its tributary, Lake Creek, runs through Greater Round Rock West, where more than 80 homes sit in the 100-year floodplain and water came inside in 2010 and 2015. On May 5 and 6, 2025, 2 to 3 inches put the creek up and closed low-water crossings around town. EPA guidance is to dry wet building materials within 24 to 48 hours.

About half the city’s homes were built between 1990 and 2009, by the Census Bureau’s 2024 survey, so in many of them the drywall is still the original.

How mold remediation works in Texas

Texas issues two mold licenses. The assessor finds it, samples it and writes the work plan. The remediator, our side, removes it. One license holder cannot take both roles on a project, so whoever signs off never did the removal.

  1. We measure first. Moisture readings, the area measured, a written estimate.
  2. Larger jobs get an outside plan. When growth covers 25 contiguous square feet or more, a licensed mold assessment consultant you hire, not us, writes the protocol.
  3. The state is notified. On those same jobs we send TDLR notice no less than five calendar days ahead of the start date.
  4. Seal, remove, clean. Plastic sheeting under negative air, HEPA air scrubbers running, protocol materials cut out and bagged, everything else HEPA vacuumed and wiped.
  5. Dry the framing. Commercial dehumidifiers and air movers stay until studs read dry. Fix the leak or roof first, or the growth returns.
  6. Your assessor checks it. When the area passes, a Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation is issued within 10 days of completion. If you later sell, Texas has you hand the buyer copies of any certificates from the prior five years, so keep it with your house records.

Under 25 contiguous square feet, the state does not require the outside assessor. We can usually schedule removal from the evaluation, same containment, same license.

Finding a licensed mold assessor near Round Rock

You choose the assessor, and we work to their protocol. Round Rock itself has no local firm to choose from on the state’s list: TDLR’s public licensee files dated Oct. 26, 2026 show zero licensed mold assessment companies with a Round Rock address, against three licensed remediation companies there. Individual consultants are another matter: the same files show 30 current licensed mold assessment consultants in Williamson County, where Round Rock sits, and 52 in Travis County. Check any name on TDLR’s license search before you sign; ours, RCO 1589, is there too.

Mold claims and homeowners insurance

A mold claim usually rides on the water claim behind it. A freeze-burst pipe or storm-torn roof is a different conversation from a drip that ran for months, and creek water falls under flood insurance, a separate policy. We cannot tell you what a carrier will pay. We do hand over dated photos from start to finish, a moisture log, the assessor’s protocol and the remediation certificate. We will talk with your adjuster, and direct billing is available once a claim is approved.

If the wall is still wet, start with our Round Rock water damage cleanup service. The full mold remediation service page lists everything included, and our Round Rock restoration services page covers fire, storm and rebuild work in the city.

Round Rock mold remediation FAQs

No mold assessment company is based in Round Rock. Who writes my protocol?

A licensed consultant from elsewhere in Williamson County or from Travis County. They travel to the job. You hire one directly, and we work to that consultant’s written plan.

Our roof was tarped after the 2022 tornado or the April 2025 hail. Should we look in the attic?

Check for a ceiling stain under the repaired spot, matted or darker insulation, or a stale smell upstairs on hot afternoons. If you find one, moisture readings at the free evaluation will show whether anything up there is still wet.

Round Rock kept its water on in February 2021. How would that freeze lead to mold?

Because city water kept flowing, the trouble was inside houses: pipes froze, split, and kept running into the wall cavity until someone closed a valve. If the line was fixed through a small opening and the insulation never came out, that cavity deserves a moisture reading.

Who decides the mold is really gone?

Not us. On jobs of 25 contiguous square feet or more, the independent assessor you hired compares the finished area to the protocol, and the certificate follows once it passes. On smaller jobs we walk you through the dry readings and the cleaned area before containment comes down.

Schedule a free mold evaluation

Call (512) 540-4747. Someone answers 24 hours a day; mold evaluations are daytime appointments, and the crew comes from 1019 S Heatherwilde Blvd, Suite 120, Pflugerville, TX 78660. Have three things ready: where you see or smell it, about how large it looks, and whether the leak or the roof has been fixed.
